Cuff Size Matters! A too big or small cuff can lead to inaccurate readings. To Measure Cuff Size, hang an arm at the side of your body and measure the circumference (around) of the upper arm in between your shoulder and elbow. Before Blood Pressure Measurement, do not exercise, consume caffeine, alcohol, or smoke 30 minutes prior. 5-10 minutes before measurement, sit quietly and relax. To Effectively Measure Blood Pressure, sit with your back straight, legs uncrossed, and feet flat on the floor. Place the cuff on your upper arm and rest your arm on a table so the cuff is at your heart level.
